We continue our look a prerequisites, in this tutorial we look at configuring email
and web clients. This subject should be elementary for most users, especially
anyone considering the RHCT exam. In this tutorial we won't configure specific
clients, we will review the basic information that you need. For an email client
you'll need the urls for both incoming and outgoing servers, you'll need to now
your options for encryption and authentication. Let's take a look at how that
looks in evolution. As you can see evolution supports a number of different
server types where you can enter the incoming email server in the authentication
username you need, encryption and authentication types. The same holds true for
outgoing email. It also supports encryption and different types of authentication.
The default GUI web client for Red Hat Enterprise Linux is firefox, there are
special plug-in requirements for firefox. You may have to install it from a
targa type like that described in the previous tutorial. To review the plug ins
that are installed, type about colon plug-ins in the address textbox. I haven't
installed any plug-ins on my system and I don't expect that to be a requirement
on the RHCT exam. One web browser I do like is ELINKS, it allows you to work
from the text console so you don't even need the GUI. Now let's see how this
works with the VTC website. As you can see you have the same basic information.
And you don't even need the GUI. Thank you and onto the next movie.
