Let's examine what we can do with the Records menu in Browse mode. So realize we are in Browse mode right now, and so the Records menu has a lot of choices here. We've already covered New Record, which creates a blank new record. Let's work with Duplicate Record. What that does is says take the record you're currently viewing and duplicate it, so if you look at the status area right now, we have 43 total records. If we duplicate, we get Billy Adlington again, now we have 44 total records. And also notice that the Auto-enter stuff updates. That's not really duplicated from the previous record. So all this information, even fields that you don't see on the layout, remember we have date of birth in here, but that is not on the layout. If it had data in it, that would also get duplicated. So everything on that record gets duplicated. Now there's another way to duplicate records. You can actually go ahead and choose a new record, and then you can click into the field you want and choose Insert From Last Visited. And you'll see that it pulls in the information from the last record you were looking at. We can go down to the next one and do another Insert From Last Visited record. In fact, we can even do this using a keyboard command. If you look right next to it, Command Quote. So we'll go ahead and type it in, and you see it pulls in that information, I can tab, or I can actually go and Command Shift or Control Shift Quote, and we can walk through all the fields in the layout. So the difference here is that I can choose which fields I want from the last record instead of duplicating everything. Now it's important to note that it grabs the information when you're inserting from last record from the last active record. So let me demonstrate this. If we go to Bob Willford's record and make sure that our cursor's blinking in any of the fields here, it doesn't matter. And then exit so that no fields are selected, and then we go to Billy Adlington, create a new record, and start using the Insert From Last, you'll see that all the information comes from that record that we Add Last Active, not the last one we looked at, the last active one, and that's designated by where the cursor is. So again, you can do that through the menu or you can use the keyboard command of Command or Control Quote, or you can throw this Shift key in there with the Command or Control Quote, and that will actually walk you through all the fields on the layout so you can quickly fill in all the information. It's really nice, so I really like that feature because Duplicate Records sometimes duplicates things that we really don't want. OK, so let's go back to the menu and we'll look at our Delete Record, that's the third item down, and notice there's three dots after it, and it's also got a keyboard command. So Delete Record, we'll try that. And you really want to pay attention to this message, it says Permanently Delete This Entire Record. Well, it's going to be permanently deleted, there's no way to get it back, so if you delete it, it's gone forever. So you really want to make sure that you click the right answer here. So that's why Cancel is the default here, you can see that it's highlighted. But we're going to choose Delete, and you'll watch over here that this will change to 45. Now, we can also do that holding down the Option key on the Macintosh or the Shift key and watch what happens. See how that changes? The dots disappear. That means that we'll delete that record with no dialog. So you can even throw in the keyboard command with that Option Command or Option Control E. Actually, I'm sorry, it would be Shift Control E on Windows. So you can do that and you really want to be sure, I mean, I do it often, but I want to make sure that, maybe you make a back up before doing that stuff. In fact, it's a great idea, as you're working on your project, to always make back ups. Now, if you're working with sample data, it's no big deal, but if you've got real data, you know, make a back up, and make it every couple hours or, you know, as often as you want to, you know, if every four hours is good enough, then do that; if it's every eight hours or once a day, then do that, but, you know, make sure you do make back ups. So let's watch that again, I'm going to Option Delete, because it goes real quick, and that'll get us back down to our original found set of records here.
