We're now going to look at using the Move Command using Object Snap Tracking. Now, we need to make sure that the appropriate Object Snaps are on first. So we go down to our O Snap, down here, we right click and go to Settings. We're going to need at least our End Point, our Midpoint and our Center Snap, our Intersection and our Extension Snap on. I normally leave those on by default. Those are the ones that I tend to use on a day-to-day basis; again, your choice. That's my personal preference. It may not be yours. But we must make sure that this one here is switched on; Object Snap Tracking. Also check the Object Snap is on. Object Snap Tracking will not work without Object Snap on. It's self-explanatory really, but it does happen that people forget sometimes to switch the Object Snap on and try and use Object Snap Tracking. Click on OK there and now what we're going to do, we're going to move our desk here. So we're going to click on the desk and select it. We're going to click on the chair and select it. We're going to move two objects at once. Their orientation to each other is not going to change. We're going to use the bottom-left corner of the desk as our base point. I'm going to right click and I'm going to go to the Move Command. So AutoCAD will prompt me for the base point. I'm now going to zoom in nice and tight on the corner of my desk there. Now, as you can see, it's got a radiused corner. What I can do is I can actually specify the actual intersection of this end point here by hovering over it. Hover over it for a couple of seconds. That acquires me an Object Snap Tracking Point. I'm only hovering. Notice I haven't clicked on it. I then move over this end point snap here, the other end of the arc on the corner and again, I hover over it. I do not click. If I just drag gently now to the left, I get an intersection, like so. Can you see that intersection of the two end point snaps there? That is going to be my base point for moving. So I now left click and as you can see, I can move the desk and the chair now using that point as my base point. If I just zoom out slightly now, there's a nice corner of a room there. If I place that using the end point snap on the corner like so and left click, you can see there if I zoom in close now, there's my desk and as you can see, I've got it exactly in the corner but by using the two end points of the arc using Object Snap Tracking. So that places that beautifully in my lounge area there. I'm just going to hit Escape now to deselect that desk. Let's just pan upwards slightly here now in the drawing. As you can see, I've got a dining room table and chairs there and I've got a dining room here that's empty. What I'm going to do here is just use some Object Snap Tracking just to place this roughly in the center. It does not have to be exact. So what I'm going to do here, again, it's an AutoCAD block so I just click on the object. You'll notice this time I've got a grip in the center of the table where the block was created. I'm going to click on that grip and activate it and make it a hot grip so I can move that around using the grip; nice and easy. I'm going to hover now over the midpoint of this wall here. Again, notice I'm hovering. I'm not clicking. I'm then going to hover over this midpoint here. Now, what you'll find is when I now move here, you'll see I get an intersection as I move around. Now, I don't want that midpoint up there so I hover over it and deselect it and I hover over this midpoint here instead. So I hover over that midpoint there, that midpoint there. So I make sure that I've hovered over both of them. As I come along that midpoint line, there's my intersection. As you can see, the two midpoints intersect. I left click and I've moved that roughly to the center of the dining room. Again, the actual base point on the object itself does not have to be exact. In this particular instance, the dining room table is roughly central. It's going to get moved around in the dining room anyway, depending on what occasion is happening; maybe Christmas lunch, it could friends coming round to dinner. But the idea being is that you've got the opportunity there to use the Object Snap Tracking to use multiple points to place in the drawing.
