Even though you're going to learn quite a bit about After Effects CS3 through this tutorial you might want to find out some additional things on your own and Adobe is more then happy to provide that for you right from here, the good old help menu and you're going to find a ton of resources right from this menu alone and of course if you start off with After Effects in the morning like I do, you're going to get your little tip of the day. And a tip of the day is going to tell you something at random that you might not know and I like to keep this on because it makes After Effects seem like my buddy and says hey man you know that an asterisk next to the project name indicates and I'm like, " Hey man, Thank you." If you don't want to see this just go ahead and deselect this or if you want to keep it open click next tip and read through a bunch of them when you're having your morning coffee. Once you're done hit OK. If you ever turn that off and you want it back again, just go back to help, tip of the day and put the checkmark back in this box. If you want to find out about After Effects in general or scripting help or find out how to use expressions and other things just go to the help menu and choose any of these topics here. So I'll go to After Effects help and the help application will open up in a second and what I can do here is I can look at my help through the contents which is listed here and I can hit the little plus sign to see the other topics in here and I can click on the topic I'm interested in and read about how to work with it here. I can also search by index by clicking on the index and clicking on a letter that may have the content that I'm looking for. Once I find something I can click on it and read about it over here and as you can see Adobe loves you so very much they give you illustrations as well to help you out. Because they know creative people are very visual so we need to see pictures, sometimes reading a bunch of text isn't going to help us very much. Another thing I can do is you can go up here and search so I can type for example glow and I'll go ahead and hit the magnifying glass and then everything that has something to do with glows appears and the cool thing about this is I can check other products. So I might want to find out about glows in Photoshop so I'll go ahead and choose Photoshop and I can see about all kinds of filters. I'll go back to After Effects and I can see that there are 11 topics that are pretty much based on my search here so that these little numbers here will tell you exactly how many of the topics are related to your search which is very handy as well. I can also click on this drop down list to browse through topics as well or rather applications so the help viewer is just another way that Adobe helps you out when you want to find out more about After Effects. So let me go ahead and close this and show you something else here. You also have the option to register After Effects on your computer or deactivate it. Now what this means is say your in the beta program and you have the After Effects beta, when you buy the full version you're going to have to deactivate that beta and then register the new version. Likewise let's say you have a new computer, somebody kicked your door and took your computer and it happened to me, so I feel you man, I'm here with you in the heart, I'm here with you. Anyway somebody stole your computer so what you can do is have that version deactivated and then register the new version of After Effects or your old copy on your new computer. So you simply turn it off on the other computer so the criminal on the other end gets a little last laugh from you when he tries to run After Effects on your old laptop. You can also check for updates and get online support right here from the help menu. So once again After Effects has tons of help for you that you can browse on your own and learn even more about this great application on your own.
